Description

I can't believe it's not Pokemon.
Wow. Did it seriously take me more then a year to upload something that wasn't Pokemon? For shame.

SOYEAH; My oh-so belated side of an art trade with the wonderful *Blue-Uncia.
** Check out her half of the art trade right now okay :) **

Pretty standard stuff from me I suppose, I'm just doing my thing, whereby I take peoples OC's, and hideously butcher them by depicting them so out-of-character way that it makes you sick. Good times.
I sincerely apologize to you Neko, and I hope the misrepresentation of Featherfoot and Ikale (see the originals) isn't too terrible. Good little whitemage-elf people have bad hair days too... right?

Any more text here would just be me trying to justify the horrorshow that this is; so I'll shuddup and go to bed now.

OHYEAH; Critique this thing. Just because I can C:

I feel a little uncomfortable writing a critique for a work made for me personally, but here goes.

First of all, a lot has been said about this piece depicting my characters Ikale and Featherfoot out of character. I feel I ought to explain a little bit about that, before moving on to the actual critique. You see, in January I made a little gift gag for *xSheepi, starring his psychopathic character Kylie in an extremely OoC-like situation. This was intentional, as it was also my entry for an OoC-contest (I lost, by the way).

In a way, this piece by Sheepi could be considered his belated answer to this gag. He took two characters, of which Ikale in particular is the sweetest thing on earth, and made them OoC as well. I am not offended by this at all, in fact I think it's quite amusing.

Okay, moving on to the critique. =Eitan606 has already covered quite a lot, so I'll try to find new things to point out.

Composition
Like Eitan pointed out, the composition is a rather generic &#039osing in front of the camera' type of deal, but is very nicely executed. It is a little bit like ~WolfGuardian2 said, as if Ikale experienced real anger for the first time in her life. The clenched fist really strengthens this image.

Anatomy Ikale
I'll admit that Ikale does look a bit buffed up here. Like me, you have more experience in drawing creatures, than you have in drawing people. The proportions look a bit skewed. Your Ikale stands an impressive 9-10 heads tall, while in reality she's closer to 7-8 heads tall. The limbs looks quite muscular, but I need to be fair here. I accidentally drew her too buff in my ref pic too. Her hands and feet look pretty large in my image as well. The white cloth over the pelvis does suggest that she has a groin, like Eitan said. In Ikale's real design that cloth is broader and reaches all the way down to her knees. You can't see this on my ref sheet, because of the flapping clothing. So that's mostly my fault for not making the ref clear enough.

I do have a remark about how you drew Ikale's breasts, however. They are a bit too small for her, and they are located too high up on her chest. Drawing a good set of breasts is not an easy task, but there are a few tricks to remember when drawing breasts. One very important rule is that in mid-sized breasts (such as Ikale's) the underside of the breast will be located about half way down the upper arm. For future reference, here are some tutorials on how to draw breasts: [link] [link] [link]

Anatomy Featherfoot
While I don't mind at all whether or not people draw my characters exactly the same way as me, there are a few things to be said about how you drew Featherfoot. I really admire how you drew the feathers and fur, so I won't cover any of that. As was mentioned by ~Nibi-Nekomata, the way the wings connect isn't really right. It is difficult to explain how they should be connected, so I'll just link to a pic done by someone who drew Featherfoot much better than I ever could: [link]

Featherfoot's front feet look a bit strange. The lifted right leg looks as it it only has two fingers on the front, and none on the back. The left front leg looks as if it is bearing weight on its knuckles, instead of on the foot itself. The extended back foot looks as if it only has three toes, but that may be due to the angle. I love Featherfoot's pose overall, and the glowing eyes are a nice touch. I do feel that the beak protrudes a bit to far from her face, making her look more hawk-like. The body is also less fluffy looking than it ought to be. Being a cross between a snowy owl and a snow leopard, she has lots of fluff on her feet, on her belly and on her tail.

Coloring, shading and background
I have nothing to critique about these aspects of the piece. I really love the mood they set, and the colors are well chosen. The flying embers really add to the dramatic effect.

To sum things up
- Yes, the picture is out of character, but personally I don't really have any problems with that.
- There are some anatomical issues.
- Coloring, mood, background and all that look great.
- Love the picture. Seriously.
